If you hold a refundable ticket, you can cancel any time up until the flight takes off, and your money is returned to you the same way that you paid for your ticket. If the passenger has purchased their original class ticket on their desired flight within 24 hours prior to departure, then a same-day cancellation fee of one flight shall be paid in lieu of an adjustment fee specified in the fares rules in the United Airlines refund policy. You may defer the value of a non-refundable United Airlines ticket to the new ticket, but a change fee ranging from $50 to $150, as published, is charged depending on the destination and type of change made.
