Project Belonging is an innovative peer-to-peer learning experience for middle- and high-school students across the United States that offers an in-depth online training developed by a team of educators at Teachers College, Columbia University. It prepares students to become advocates and leaders in their schools and incubates student-led projects that promote belonging, social connectedness, and the prevention of targeted violence in their communities. When a student experiences feelings of isolation, invisibility, or disengagement it may cause them to seek out alternative spaces of learning, replacing schools, educators, and in-school staff. To counter this phenomenon, our team believes that students have an integral role to play in creating safe, connected, and resilient classrooms and schools across the U.S.
