How to add mods

How can I add my own mods to liquidbounce, when I try to put in mods in the .minecraft directory it doesn't work on liquidbounce 1.8.9. I am using liquidlauncher and I wanted to add physics mod and other performance boosting mods.

put it into custom_mods folder
