Because you can use the 1.20.4 version to join any Minecraft Version. Simply select the Version inside the Multiplayer Screen.
Check if you have "Players" selected in Enemies. Also check if you have AntiBot misconfigured and enabled. Or Teams enabled and misconfigured. Or Focus enabled?
