Nextgen LB is upcoming update that will replace current LB.
It is being recoded from zero in very different ways. (Marco is very happy with LB's new base)
It will feature Sciter HTML engine, that will make CSS themes possible. (theme manager was mentioned in the src) It will possibly lead to significant render performance boost along with newer versions of OpenGL.
Nashorn engine will still stay as well as LB's ScriptAPI.
It will run on fabric so regular updates to newest versions of MC is expected.
Fabric also has better performance than Forge (newest MC versions have way lower performance than 1.8, 1.12 tho).
It will include some form of ViaVersion that will function like Jello Portal. -
